Martin's Rentals Gialova

Scooter & Bike Rentals in Gialova, Messinia

The car takes you from one point to another. The scooter makes you stop in the olive grove, observe the view, and end up somewhere you didn’t intend to go. This corner of Messinia is best experienced when you live it in nature. On a bike you will discover even more special places of the Messinian land.

Martin’s Rentals is located on the main road of Gialova. Open every day, 08:00–20:00.

Scooters

Helmets included.

Automatic transmission — no gears, no experience required. If you ride a bike, you can ride one of ours as long as you have a license.

Ideal for: The coastal route to Pylos (15 minutes), the castle of Methoni (45 minutes), Voidokilia (10 minutes), the villages of the hinterland.

Price: price on request — ask us in store.

E-Bikes

Quieter, slower, closer to the water.

Electric assist means the hills don’t win. The battery covers everything in the area — no range anxiety, no sweating through a shirt before you’ve arrived anywhere.

Where scooters aren’t ideal — the lagoon cycling path, for instance — e-bikes are exactly right.

Best for: The lagoon route to Voidokilia, the Pylos coastal road, longer loops through the Messinian countryside.

Price: price on request — ask us at the shop.

Bikes (Standard)

Good for families.

Classic pedal bikes — no motor, no fuss. The flat lagoon path from Gialova to Voidokilia is 8–10 km of almost entirely level ground. It’s genuinely one of the better rides in the Peloponnese, and a standard bike is all you need for it.

Best for: The Gialova lagoon path, casual riders, families with older kids.

Price: price on request — ask us at the shop.

SUPs — Stand Up Paddleboards

SUPs are available May through October.

Navarino Bay is one of the calmest stretches of water in the Peloponnese — sheltered, clear, and long enough that you can paddle for an hour without retracing a stroke.

All levels welcome — we’ll give you a quick briefing if it’s your first time.

Best time to go: Early morning, before the wind picks up. The water is glassy, the bay is quiet, and you’ll have it almost to yourself.

Best for: Calm, flat-water paddling in Navarino Bay.

Price: price on request — ask us at the shop.

Popular Routes from Gialova

Gialova Lagoon Path —

starts here. Flat cycling route through the lagoon, to Voidokilia. 8–10 km each way. Migratory birds, herons, a quietness that is not found elsewhere in August. Ideal time to visit at dusk or early morning

Pylos Town —

15 min by scooter along the coastal road. Harbour, castle, the square — worth the stop. Parking there is a nightmare; arriving by scooter is not.

Voidokilia Beach —

10 min by scooter, 30–40 min by bike along the lagoon path. One of the best beaches in Greece. Go early.

Nestor's Palace & Chora —

20 min by scooter. The Bronze Age palace of Mycenaean Pylos — smaller than Mycenae, better preserved, and almost never crowded.

Methoni —

45 min by scooter. The Venetian fortress at Methoni is one of the largest in the Mediterranean. The beach below the walls is excellent.

FAQ

Do I need a scooter license?

Our scooters are automatic — no clutch, no gears. If you feel comfortable on a bike and are not afraid of traffic, you will be fine. We will explain everything to you before you go. If you have doubts, an e-bike or a classic bike may be a better choice.
